The “PROCESS_INITIALIZATION_FAILED” error, also known as a STOP code 0x00000060, indicates that the computer’s boot process failed due to a missing or corrupt device driver, system file, or software installation. This error could potentially result in a system crash or blue screen.

How to fix:

  1. Boot into Safe Mode: Restart your computer and press F8 during startup to access the Advanced Boot Options menu, then select Safe Mode. If you can boot into Safe Mode, the issue is likely related to a device driver or software that isn’t necessary for basic system operation.
  2. Use System Restore: If you can boot into Safe Mode, you might want to use System Restore to roll back any recent changes that could be causing the issue. System Restore can undo changes to system files, installed applications, Windows Registry, and system settings.
  3. Check for Hardware Issues: Hardware failure or issues can also cause this error. Run a hardware diagnostic test to check if any of your hardware components are malfunctioning.
  4. Run a System File Checker: System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. To run it, open Command Prompt in administrator mode, and type sfc /scannow then press Enter.
  5. Reinstall Windows: If none of the above steps work, you may need to consider reinstalling your operating system. This should be your last resort, as it will delete all your files and applications. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding.

Remember to always consult with a professional if you’re unsure about any steps or if you’re uncomfortable troubleshooting on your own.
