Google Chrome Introduces URL Typo-Checking and Upgrades Live Caption
Google has announced that a new feature checking for typos in URL addresses will be introduced with the latest Chrome update. This function will suggest correct web sites based on the user’s input, helping them avoid fraudulent sites that often exploit common misspellings of popular web destinations. Initially, this feature will be rolled out for desktop browsers, followed by mobile versions in the coming months.

As reported by The Verge, this tool will improve user experience by reducing the chance of landing on questionable sites due to typing errors in a website’s name.
Alongside this, Google also revealed an update to the Live Caption feature, which converts spoken messages to text. Now users will be able to compose a response during a phone call and have it read aloud to the person they are conversing with. Initially, this feature will be supported on the latest Pixel models and will gradually roll out to other Pixel models and Android devices.
Additionally, Google will introduce an optimized caption window for Android tablets and extend Live Caption support for French, Italian, and German languages on Pixel 4 and 5, and other Android platform devices.
Another update was unveiled for Google Maps, making wheelchair-accessible locations clearly marked for all users. Previously, users had to enable the ‘Accessible Places’ feature on Google Maps to check whether a specific location had a wheelchair ramp.
In addition, Google announced a closed beta testing of several new features in the Lookout app for visually impaired or blind users. The AI-based app will now process and generate descriptions of images regardless of whether they come with textual annotations. Users can ask further questions about these images, which will be answered using an advanced visual language model (VLM) from Google DeepMind.
